Director of the Centre for Economic Research (CINVE-Uruguay). Director for Latin America of INSERAS (University of Alcala).

PhD in Economics, University of Essex (UK), Master of Science in Economics, London School of Economics (UK) and Master in Economics and BA in Economics, Universidad de la Republica (Uruguay). Professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay and Universidad de la Republica. During 2007-2008 I was a temporary Lecturer of Econometrics in the Master of Finance at the University of Cambridge (UK). I have participated in several research projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). I have been a consultant for several institutions: IDB, IDRC, DFID, ILO, governments of different countries in LAC. My papers have been published in the following journals: Science and Public Policy, Industrial and Corporate Change, World Development, Journal of Development Studies, Small Business Economics, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Research Evaluation, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, European Journal on Criminal Policy and Research, CEPAL Review. Main research areas: Economics of Innovation, Political Economy and Economics of Crime and Violence.
